모자라는 것은 소리를 내지만
What is not full makes a noise
얕은 개울물은 소리 내어 흐르고
깊은 강물은 소리 없이 흐른다.
모자라는 것은 소리를 내지만
가득 찬 것은 아주 조용하다.
어리석은 자는 물이 반쯤 찬 항아리 같고
지혜로운 자는 물이 가득 찬 연못과 같다.
Shallow brooks are noisy;
deep rivers are silent.
What is not full makes a noise;
what is full is silent.
A foolish one is like a half-full water-pot;
a wise person is like a full pond.
